Data Storage

In this day and age, mobile phones are no longer used just to make calls, devices such as smart phones and PDAs have evolved which make our lives so much easier by allowing us to type documents, take pictures, listen to songs, watch movies, etc on the go. This is all well and good of course but all these things require storage space and for this reason most mobile devices come with expandable memory so that where initially your mobile device might have had 10 MBs of space, you can expand it so that it has 2 GB worth of storage! Moreover, with advances in flash memory or solid state memory, newer mobile devices can have expanded memory of up to 8 GB. Expandable flash memory (SD cards, Micro SD, MMC, etc) data storage is not only used for mobile phones, PDAs and the like but is also used for digital cameras, portable MP3 players and recently have also been introduced for use in gaming consoles (Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, etc). With the advent of flash drives capable of reading from and writing to SD, Micro SD and MMC cards data transfer to and from your PDA or other mobile device has never been simpler. Of course, the use of Bluetooth connectivity is in essence more user-friendly (all you have to do is turn on Bluetooth on both your PC and mobile device) it does suffer from low transfer rates (at the moment).
