Palm or rather PalmOne to be precise was originally a division of US Robotics and later became a wholly independent PDA manufacturing company. It used to be that all Palm devices ran on the Palm OS however as of the Palm Treo 700W. Furthermore the market for PDAs is being contested more and more as many phone manufacturers are now making multi-function smartphones which combine the functions of a PDA with a cell phone so that it is expected that soon PDA-only devices will no longer be available.
