Acer is (now) an established brand and is known world over for its computers. In fact, Acer is the third largest computer manufacturer in the world after HP and Dell Inc. Toshiba

Toshiba is the result of a merger between two pre-World War I companies that has survived to this day and is the third largest semiconductor manufacturer after Samsung and Intel. Pantech

Pantech is a little known company that produces mobile phones, smart-phones and PDAs and is based in South Korea. It is the third largest mobile phone maker in South Korea behind Samsung and LG Mobile respectively. Pantech has been an innovator and has received many awards for its daring designs. Pantech claims to be the world's first mobile phone manufacturer to have made a sliding phone, a CDMA 1X phone, fingerprint ID phone, ZIGBEE equipped phone, motion sensing phone, Windows Mobile smart phone and Bluetooth DMB phone. Pantech also claims to have been first in introducing many new mobile phone technologies in Korea. Pantech has also made the Pantech Duo PDA which is a Windows Mobile PDA that has 3G (UMTS and HSDPA) support and with expandable memory (SD cards) is not only the perfect business device, but also an exceptional portable music player. This because you can purchase and download new music using Windows Media Player and the digital music stores embedded in it. The most exceptional feature of the Pantech Duo however is that it is both a slide phone (slide to show numeric keypad) and a flip phone (flip to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard). Also features a respectable 1.3 Megapixel camera. Nokia

Nokia is the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer. It derives its name from a river in Finland where it was originally established as a wood pulp mill in the late 19th century. Nokia was part of the development team for the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) standard which now dominates mobile telephony with about 80% of the world's mobile subscribers using GSM. Nokia had developed its first true handheld mobile phone by 1987 and has never looked back since. In fact, Nokia announced in 2007 that the Nokia 1100 is the world's best selling mobile phone of all time with over 200 million units shipped. This also makes the Nokia 1100 the top selling consumer electronic product. LG (formerly Goldstar) is a South Korean conglomerate that produces petrochemical and electronic products as well as mobile phones and PDAs. With regards to their marketing campaigns for their mobile phones and PDAs, I can personally vouch for their success as not only was I incredibly tempted to immediately purchase the LG Chocolate phone but experienced similar desires for the more recent LG Viewty. An interesting fact about the LG Viewty is that it was widely reported by many magazines and tech sites that it outsold the Apple iPhone in terms of units sold in Europe but cannot be confirmed as Apple has not released sales figures for the iPhone. LG has many notable phones and PDAs in their lineup including: LG VX5400 CDMA, LG VX8350, LG VX8550 Blue Mint Chocolate, LG VENUS VX8800 in Pink, LG VX9400, LG ENv VX9900, LG Voyager VX10000, LG Shine, LG CU515 and the LG CE110.
LG also owns Cyon, their Korean mobile phone brand.

Sony

Sony Ericsson is a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson with a 50-50 partnership and was established in 2001. Before that, Sony had already launched their line of PDAs (which used Palm OS) the Sony Clie (which was an acronym for creativity, lifestyle, innovation, emotion). While the Sony Clie line has been discontinued completely as of 2005, it was and is still a vastly popular PDA and even though Sony has stopped providing support for the Clie one can still find drivers that are essential for full utility of the Clie very easily from sites created by Clie fans. Amongst the more popular versions of the Sony Clie were: Sony Clie T615, Sony Clie NR70V, Sony Clie N700, Sony Clie 700 Series, Sony Clie N600, Sony Clie SL10, Sony Clie NR70, Sony Clie SJ30, Sony Clie 500 Series, Sony Clie 600 Series, Sony Clie S300, Sony Clie NX60, Sony Clie T665, Sony Clie NX70V, Sony Clie SJ20 and the Sony Clie T415.
While Sony has made many innovations including the Sony Playstation (and its successor the Sony PlayStation 2 and the portable version Sony PSP) as well as various data storage formats such the Betamax system for video cassette players, DAT tape standard, Blu-ray Discs, UMD (Universal Media Discs), etc its innovations in the mobile industry have been fairly limited. However Sony Ericsson did introduce the first line of phones whose main feature was to play music (the Walkman series). Thus providing fair competition for portable music players such as the iPod, Creative Zen and Microsoft Zune. Among Sony Ericsson's many phones are the Sony Ericsson Z310a and the Sony Ericsson W580i Walkman both of which are fairly recent and quite popular.
